Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha has announced the death of her father, Leonard Ndukaife Chukwuka.

The actress shared the news in an emotional Instagram post on Friday, October 2, 2026, describing her late father as her “daddy, papa’m, obara’m” and “my comfort.”

Akpotha expressed gratitude for the years she had with her father and for the opportunity he had to see his children and grandchildren. She said she had hoped he would also live to meet his great-grandchildren.

The actress said she had initially kept the news private as she took time to process the loss before informing the public.

She appealed to the public to remember her, her siblings and the entire Chukwuka family in their prayers.

Akpotha added that the family would announce details of the funeral arrangements at a later date.

The actress is one of Nollywood’s established performers, with a career spanning more than two decades. She won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2007 for her performance in ‘Sins of the Flesh’.
