The Executive Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA Mr. Abiodun Ejigbadero has empowered each of 300 community residents with 100,000 naira Renewed Hope Cash Transfer to boost their individual economy.
During the day-2 of the council chief’s 100 days in office celebration on Thursday, an event which featured a free medical outreach, where many residents of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA had the opportunity of checking their wellness status from certified medical personnels, they also benefited from the eye clinic where corrective goggles (Jigi Eji) were given to them.
Ejigbadero who did the first five symbolic presentation of cheques to beneficiaries of the cash transfer before taking his leave to attend to a very urgent matter, noted that, the monies are being sent to their account almost immediately, while urging them to make judicious use of it as a seed for sustained economic growth.
“It is going to be a monthly affair, whoever benefits now should use it well, others will also benefit in the next phase as the 300 people targeted today is the first phase.”
Standing in for the council chief, Mr. Shobayo Adetunji the Vice Chairman Agbado Oke-Odo, reeled out the unprecedented moves of Ejigbadero.
“All you see us doing is a directive from the party and our national leader the President of Nigeria Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Executive Chairmen particularly my own boss Hon. Jimoh Ishola Abiodun Ejigbadero, to make our people happy.
“The essence is ensuring wellbeing of the people. The Chairman even procured ambulance and clinical analyzing equipment for the benefit of the residents of the council, it is the first of its kind ever since I have been in government, I was once a councilor, later a supervisor and now a Vice Chairman, the time of Hon Ejigbadero is so fantastic that you cannot write off.
Secondly, we have the programmes in phases, the free medical outreach and cash transfers of 100,000 naira each to about 300 residents, next month we are going to do more than 300 residents equally we are attaching a lot of things to it come January that we will be having our grand finale, it will include “Ounje Eji” as well.
Also speaking the Agbado Oke-Odo Leader in Council Mr. Giwa Aduragbemi said, “It is in fulfillment of our electioneering campaign promises and this is just the tip of the iceberg, more are still coming which you will all testify to.
In a quick reaction Mr. Alex Kasunmu the Community Development Advisory Council Chairman in Agbado Oke-Odo lauded the initiative as a very critical intervention for the economic wellness of residents.
“30 million naira every month will go a long way, it will make a lot of impacts. The money is coming at a time very important, the yuletide period, whatever you invest the money on by January should have yielded some profits, so they should invest it properly.” Kasunmu said.
Some of the beneficiaries who were discussing amongst themselves, said though they were initially not too pleased with the fact that Ejigbadero was seemingly imposed on them from another community, they never knew it will turnout to be a blessing in disguise. They prayed for the Chairman to do well in office.
