The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has disclosed that 12 Nigerian pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals across Saudi Arabia for different health conditions. The commission said the affected pilgrims are under close medical supervision and are responding positively to treatment.
According to NAHCON, the development comes amid ongoing efforts by its medical team to provide healthcare services to thousands of Nigerian pilgrims in the Kingdom. The commission noted that healthcare personnel deployed for the pilgrimage have been actively attending to pilgrims with a range of medical issues, including conditions associated with the strenuous nature of the Hajj rites and the prevailing weather conditions.
The commission reassured the public that adequate medical facilities and personnel are available to cater to the needs of Nigerian pilgrims. It added that pilgrims requiring specialized treatment are referred to accredited Saudi hospitals, while NAHCON-operated clinics continue to provide primary healthcare services across key pilgrimage locations.
NAHCON has repeatedly urged pilgrims to adhere to health and safety guidelines, stay hydrated, take prescribed medications, and promptly report any health concerns to medical officials. The commission also emphasized its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims throughout the Hajj exercise.
The disclosure comes as Nigerian medical teams in Saudi Arabia continue to monitor pilgrims’ health amid reports of rising medical cases during the annual pilgrimage. Despite the challenges, NAHCON said arrangements remain in place to ensure that affected pilgrims receive the necessary care and support until they recover.
