NDLEA intercepts 66 parcels of cannabis concealed as green tea at Lagos Airport

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted 66 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, disguised as green tea at the import shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.

The development was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday, June 8, 2025, by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media & Advocacy for the agency.

According to the statement, the seizure was made on Thursday, June 5, following credible intelligence received prior to the consignment’s arrival at the airport’s cargo wing on May 11.

The shipment had been watch-listed and kept under surveillance for over three weeks before the NDLEA invited other relevant agencies for a joint examination.

The intercepted consignment, weighing 62.20kg, originated from Thailand, transiting through the UAE aboard an Emirates Airlines flight, and was carefully concealed in green tea packaging.
