Real estate staff arrested for faking own kidnap

Police operatives in Edo State have arrested a young lady, identified as Blessing Ogunu, for allegedly faking her abduction and demanding N4.8m ransom.

The suspect, a staff member of Bliss Legacy Limited, a real estate company based in Benin City, was arrested alongside two others, Esther Anthony and Ukpebor Joel.

The command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, disclosed that Blessing Ogunu allegedly faked her own abduction and demanded a N4.8 million ransom for her release.

According to him, the Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit received a complaint from one Samuel Prince Omomuzo of No. 102 Ihama Road, GRA, Benin City, who reported that one Blessing Ogunu, a staff of Bliss Legacy Limited, Benin City, was kidnapped in Benin and the kidnappers demanded a N4.8 million ransom.

Nwabuzor added that during interrogation, the supposed Blessing Ogunu confessed that she masterminded her own abduction because her company refused to allocate land to a customer whom they had received money from.
