Glo, Samsung unveil Galaxy S26

Telecommunications giant Globacom has teamed up with global device manufacturer Samsung to launch the highly anticipated Galaxy S26 series in Nigeria, positioning the flagship smartphone as a convergence of artificial intelligence, privacy technology, and premium connectivity for Nigerian consumers.

The unveiling was held at Globacom’s corporate headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos, and brought together industry stakeholders, high-net-worth customers, and members of the media to witness the debut of Samsung’s latest flagship device in the Nigerian market.

As part of the partnership, Globacom has opened an exclusive pre-order window for Glo subscribers, positioning itself as the first partner to combine both a masterclass session and pre-order benefits for customers following the device’s Nigerian launch. Customers who purchase the Galaxy S26 at any Gloworld outlet nationwide will receive 18GB of free data under the Glo Smartphone Festival Data Plan, distributed as 3GB monthly for six months, alongside a Platinum Number eSIM bundled with additional monthly data benefits.

The device itself represents a significant technological leap. Samsung has positioned the Galaxy S26 not merely as a hardware upgrade but as a strategic push into artificial intelligence, embedded privacy, and ecosystem integration within Nigeria’s premium smartphone market. The device’s Galaxy AI layer powers its editing tools, contextual suggestions, and automation features, while its integrated privacy display, described by Samsung as a world-first feature built directly into the screen, allows users to restrict viewing angles and shield sensitive content from view, with the filter applicable to specific apps including messaging and banking platforms.

The Galaxy S26 lineup includes the Ultra 1TB variant with 16GB RAM alongside 512GB and 256GB options, signalling a push toward high-storage, high-performance configurations for power users. The device is also IP68 water and dust resistant and built on Samsung’s Knox security platform.

Both companies were upbeat about the collaboration. Samsung Product Manager Solomon Osibeluwo highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two firms, noting that Globacom was chosen to host the masterclass due to its history of collaboration and strong market presence, and reaffirming Samsung’s commitment to enriching the calling and browsing experience of Nigerians. Globacom’s Head of Gloworld, Mohamed Rabie, said the alliance is aimed at pairing premium hardware with tangible customer value. “At Globacom, we believe that premium technology should come with premium value,” he said.

The launch underscores intensifying competition in Nigeria’s high-end smartphone segment, where differentiation is increasingly shifting from pure hardware specifications to AI-driven features and integrated service bundles. Nigerians interested in the device can visit any Gloworld outlet nationwide to place a pre-order.
