After 19 years of waiting, Nollywood’s Toyosi Adesanya welcomes baby girl through surrogacy

Nollywood actress Toyosi Adesanya and her husband, Bola Oyin-Adejobi, have finally welcomed their first child, a baby girl born through surrogacy, ending a 19-year wait that has deeply moved colleagues, fans, and followers across Nigeria.

The announcement was first shared on Instagram by fellow actress Biola Bayo on Saturday, who described the excitement of the moment and thanked everyone who had supported the couple throughout their journey, which began in 2024. Bayo wrote: “I am a godmother again! Congratulations to all of us! Toyosi Adesanya and Bola Oyin-Adejobi just welcomed a bouncing baby girl through their surrogate mom. We want to say a very big thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey since 2024, particularly our doctor, Dr Ivie of @the_fertility_doctor. Thank you for everything, doctor, you’ve been very supportive from day one of this journey. May God continue to bless you and yours. Aunty Toyosi is officially a mom today.”

According to reports, Toyosi Adesanya has been waiting to have a child since 2007, making the arrival of her daughter after nearly two decades a deeply personal and emotional triumph for the couple.

The announcement immediately drew a flood of congratulatory messages from Nollywood stars including Iyabo Ojo, Faithia Williams, and Kunle Afod, who took to social media to rejoice with the new parents. Iyabo Ojo wrote: “This is the Lord’s doing, and it’s excellent in our sight. Congratulations, my darling sis. May your bundle of joy bring more good tidings, peace, happiness, and prosperity to you and your household. Welcome to motherhood! God bless your family. Kisses to my little princess.”

Actress Ronke Oshodi also shared an emotional tribute, expressing deep gratitude to God for the couple’s journey to parenthood.

The couple, who have been married for several years, expressed overwhelming joy at the arrival. “We are overwhelmed with joy and thank God for this blessing. Our daughter has finally arrived, and we couldn’t be happier,” Toyosi reportedly said in her announcement.

The birth adds to a growing number of Nollywood personalities who have openly shared their fertility journeys in recent years, helping to reduce the stigma surrounding assisted reproduction in Nigeria. Biola Bayo herself previously narrated her own painful journey to motherhood, including a failed IVF, one cancelled surrogate cycle, and three failed surrogate attempts before finally welcoming her son, making her role as godmother to Toyosi’s daughter all the more meaningful.
