Osun lawmaker Bamidele Salam secures Accord ticket for third-term Reps bid

Member of the House of Representatives, Bamidele Salam, has secured the Accord Party ticket to contest for a third term in the 2027 general elections.

Salam, who represents Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency in Osun State, is seeking re-election after serving two consecutive terms in the National Assembly since 2019.

The lawmaker recently joined the Accord Party alongside several other federal lawmakers from Osun State following the political realignment led by Governor Ademola Adeleke. Reports indicate that six members of the House of Representatives from the state defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to Accord earlier in 2026.

Salam’s emergence as the Accord candidate positions him to seek a third consecutive mandate from constituents in Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo federal constituency during the 2027 National Assembly elections.

The federal lawmaker, who currently chairs the House Committee on Public Accounts, has represented the constituency since winning his first election in 2019 on the PDP platform before securing re-election in 2023.

His latest political move comes amid ongoing political realignments in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election and the 2027 general elections. Governor Adeleke and several of his loyalists had earlier adopted the Accord Party following internal crises within the PDP in the state.
