Remi Tinubu pledges grassroots support, donates cars to APC women leaders

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated vehicles to women leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in five states governed by opposition parties, as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and support for the party’s activities.

Mrs. Tinubu announced the donation during the inauguration of the Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), a women-led pro-Tinubu mobilisation platform, held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja. The initiative is designed to promote the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and expand grassroots engagement ahead of future political activities.

The beneficiaries of the donation are APC women leaders in Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Osun and Oyo states, all of which are currently controlled by opposition parties.

Speaking at the event, the First Lady said the vehicles would be delivered before the end of the week and clarified that the cars would belong to the recipients personally rather than to the APC.

According to her, the gesture is intended to support the women in their political and community engagement efforts at the grassroots level. She also directed that the vehicles be registered in the beneficiaries’ names.

Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the role of women in political mobilisation, describing them as critical stakeholders in community development and civic participation. She urged members of the Tinubu Torchbearers platform to promote government policies and programmes within their communities and help bridge the gap between citizens and government initiatives.

The inauguration of the Tinubu Torchbearers brought together APC women leaders and supporters from across the country. Party officials described the platform as a vehicle for voter education, advocacy, grassroots mobilisation and public engagement in support of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Political observers view the donation and the launch of the mobilisation group as part of broader efforts by the APC to consolidate its presence in states where it is currently not in power and strengthen support structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
