Pastor Adeboye raises alarm over rising insecurity, says terrorism closing in

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has expressed fresh concern over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, warning that terrorism has now reached his doorstep.Speaking during a recent church programme, the respected cleric lamented the growing wave of insecurity across the country, saying the threat of terrorism is no longer confined to distant communities but has moved dangerously close to places once considered relatively safe.

Adeboye noted that when he previously warned Nigerians about the increasing activities of terrorists, many believed the violence was limited to parts of northern Nigeria. However, he said recent developments have shown that no part of the country is immune from the security challenge.”Terrorism is now at my doorstep,” the cleric said, describing the situation as deeply troubling and urging Nigerians not to take the country’s security challenges lightly. He called on government authorities, security agencies, and citizens to intensify efforts toward tackling terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of violent crime that continue to threaten lives and livelihoods across the nation.

Beyond the call for stronger security measures, Adeboye urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and prayerful, stressing that both collective action and divine intervention are needed to restore peace and stability. The respected pastor also encouraged members of the public to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could help prevent attacks and improve intelligence gathering.Nigeria has continued to grapple with multiple security threats in recent years, including insurgency in the North-East, banditry in the North-West, kidnappings across several states, and attacks by armed groups in different parts of the country.

The persistent insecurity has claimed thousands of lives, displaced communities, and heightened concerns over public safety.Adeboye’s remarks have since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians describing his comments as a reflection of the country’s deteriorating security situation

Others renewed calls for more decisive government action to address the growing threats and ensure the protection of lives and property. His comments add to the voices of religious leaders, civil society groups, and other stakeholders who have repeatedly urged the government to adopt more effective strategies to combat insecurity and restore public confidence in the nation’s security architecture.
