The Lagos State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has announced the death of his mother, Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso).
Rhodes-Vivour disclosed the development in a statement shared on his official X account on Monday, describing his late mother as a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and woman of deep faith whose life was defined by compassion, strength and selfless service.
“With sadness in our hearts and gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the call to glory of Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso),” the statement read. He added that the family was comforted by the legacy of love, kindness and integrity she left behind.
Rhodes-Vivour, who was the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 Lagos State election before joining the ADC ahead of the 2027 polls, did not disclose the cause of his mother’s death or details of her funeral arrangements.
Following the announcement, messages of condolence poured in from political associates, supporters and members of the public, many of whom offered prayers for the repose of the deceased and expressed sympathy to the Rhodes-Vivour family during the period of mourning.
As of the time of filing this report, the family had yet to announce the burial arrangements for the late Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour.
