Davido says he spends up to ₦400m monthly, excluding household costs

Grammy-nominated Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that he spends as much as ₦400 million every month on his personal expenses while in Nigeria, excluding costs related to his wife, household, luxury cars and jewellery.

The singer made the disclosure during a live conversation on Davrel Twitch, where he discussed the financial demands of maintaining his lifestyle and compared his expenses in Nigeria with those in the United States.

According to Davido, hiugus monthly spending in the United States is significantly lower because he lives with only his wife and children, unlike in Nigeria, where he supports a much larger circle of people and is frequently involved in social engagements.

“I actually spend less in America because I live with just me, my wife and my kids,” he said.

“When I’m around, we are balling every day.”

When asked to estimate his monthly expenses, the singer said he spends between $200,000 and $300,000, which translates to approximately ₦300 million to ₦400 million, depending on the prevailing exchange rate.

Davido clarified that the estimate covers only his personal expenses and does not include spending on his wife, Chioma Adeleke, other members of his household, or purchases of luxury vehicles and jewellery.

“It doesn’t include my wife’s expenses or the rest of my household. It also doesn’t include expenses for luxury cars and jewellery,” he said.

The revelation quickly generated reactions across social media, with many users expressing astonishment at the scale of the singer’s monthly expenditure. Others noted that the financial demands associated with celebrity status, including security, travel, staff salaries and entertainment, can be substantial.

Davido, one of Africa’s most commercially successful music stars, has built a global career through chart-topping albums, international collaborations and sold-out concerts. Beyond music, he is also known for his philanthropic initiatives and support for emerging artists.

His latest remarks offer a rare glimpse into the financial realities of maintaining a high-profile lifestyle as one of Nigeria’s biggest entertainment exports.
