The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), on Tuesday dismissed reports claiming he had resigned from office, describing the rumours as false and vowing to take legal action against those responsible for circulating the claims.
Musa made the remarks while speaking to State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The minister categorically denied ever discussing resignation, insisting that he remains fully committed to his responsibilities and has no intention of leaving office.
“I am not going anywhere. I have never discussed this. I don’t even know who the person is that brought that information. But whoever it is, we will take legal action against them,” Musa said.
The defence chief’s comments came amid speculation on social media suggesting that he had stepped down from his position, claims that had generated widespread public attention.
Musa, however, dismissed the reports as baseless, stressing that there was no truth to the allegations.
His meeting with President Tinubu took place behind closed doors at the Aso Rock Villa, although details of the discussions were not officially disclosed.
The minister’s strong rebuttal is expected to put to rest speculation surrounding his status in the Federal Executive Council.
By threatening legal action, Musa also signalled the government’s growing resolve to confront the spread of false information capable of misleading the public and undermining confidence in public institutions.
General Musa, who serves as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, continues to oversee the country’s defence policies and security operations as the government intensifies efforts to address insecurity across various parts of the country.
