Seven-year-old Nigerian artist Kendis has been awarded a full educational scholarship and a ₦2.5 million cash gift after a portrait he created of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, attracted widespread attention on social media.
The young artist received the rewards during a meeting with the senator, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly. The portrait, which showcased Kendis’ remarkable artistic talent at such a young age, went viral online and drew praise from Nigerians.
In recognition of the child’s creativity and potential, Senator Adeola announced a full scholarship to support Kendis’ education and presented him with a cash donation of ₦2.5 million to further encourage his artistic development.
