A Nigerian man, David Oyedeji Adediwura, has died following a tragic road crash in the United Kingdom, leaving behind his wife and three children.
Adediwura was among three people who lost their lives in the collision, which occurred at about 9:38 p.m. BST on July 22 along Cory Wright Way in Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire, according to Hertfordshire Police. The crash involved a silver Vauxhall Astra, in which Adediwura was travelling with two other men, and a grey BMW 840i.
Emergency responders attended the scene, but the three occupants of the Astra, aged in their 30s, 40s and 50s, were pronounced dead. The driver of the BMW, a man in his 30s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Hertfordshire Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the collision and appealed to witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
Following Adediwura’s death, family members and friends launched a fundraising campaign to support funeral arrangements and provide financial assistance to his widow and their three children.
The appeal, organised by a former colleague, Iretiayo Oyewole, described Adediwura’s death as sudden and devastating, saying it had left his family, friends and colleagues struggling to come to terms with the loss.
In an emotional tribute shared on social media, Adediwura’s widow, Modinat Adebayo, described her husband’s death as “the darkest day” of her life, expressing grief over the loss of her partner and the father of their children.
The tragic incident has drawn condolences from members of the Nigerian community in the UK and beyond, with many contributing to the fundraising campaign and offering support to the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, Hertfordshire Police said investigations into the fatal crash are ongoing and urged anyone with relevant information to contact the force as inquiries continue.
