EFCC charges Malami, son, and wife with N8.7B money laundering

Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has appeared before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja for his arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Malami arrived at the court alongside his son and another defendant, as the EFCC filed a sixteen-count charge against them. The charges are said to border on alleged financial fraud and related offences, following investigations carried out by the anti-graft agency.

The court proceedings mark a significant development in the case, as Malami becomes one of the most high-profile former government officials to face trial over corruption-related allegations in recent times. Further details are expected to emerge as the arraignment progresses.
