Wagner leader Prigozhin, 9 others killed in Russian plane crash

Yevgeny V. Prigozhin, the founder of the Wagner mercenary group who staged a brief mutiny against Russia’s military leadership in June, was reportedly among the 10 people killed in a private jet that crashed in the north of Moscow on Wednesday, August 23.

According to Russian Civil Aviation Authority, seven passengers and three crew were on board the Embraer aircraft, which was en route from Moscow to St Petersburg.

TASS news agency reports that the jet crashed near the village of Kuzhenkino Tver region, 60 miles north of Moscow, killing everyone on board.

“An investigation of the Embraer plane crash that happened in the Tver Region this evening was initiated.

According to the passenger list, first and last name of Yevgeny Prigozhin was included in this list,” the Federal Agency for Air Transport of Russia said in a statement.
