Ondo SUBEB denies awarding contract linked to controversial project

The Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has denied any involvement in the award of a contract linked to a project currently generating public attention, insisting that no such contract was approved or executed through the agency.

In a statement issued to clarify its position, the Board said records available to it show that it did not award any contract corresponding to the project in question. The agency stressed that it remains committed to transparency, accountability, and due process in the execution of all projects under its supervision.

According to the Board, every contract handled by SUBEB follows established procurement procedures and is properly documented. It noted that a thorough review of its records revealed no evidence that the disputed project was initiated, approved, or funded through the agency.

“The State Universal Basic Education Board in Ondo State did not award any contracts corresponding to the project,” the statement said, distancing the Board from claims linking it to the development.

The clarification comes amid growing public scrutiny over the project and questions regarding the source of its approval and funding. While details surrounding the project remain unclear, the Board maintained that it would not hesitate to cooperate with relevant authorities to establish the facts and ensure that accurate information is made available to the public.

SUBEB further urged members of the public and stakeholders in the education sector to rely on verified information and avoid spreading unsubstantiated claims that could mislead citizens or undermine public confidence in government institutions.

The Board reiterated its dedication to improving basic education infrastructure across the state through properly approved projects and programmes designed to enhance teaching and learning in public schools.

Officials also assured residents that the agency would continue to uphold the highest standards of transparency in the management of public resources, emphasizing that all legitimate contracts awarded by the Board are subject to established oversight and monitoring mechanisms.

The development has sparked renewed calls for clarity regarding the ownership and authorization of the project, with observers urging relevant authorities to provide further details to address lingering questions and ensure accountability.
