President Bola Tinubu has said the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of road infrastructure across satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are designed to stimulate economic growth, improve connectivity and enhance the quality of life for residents.
The President stated that the road projects form part of his administration’s broader commitment to expanding infrastructure development beyond the Abuja city centre to underserved communities, where improved road networks are expected to unlock economic opportunities and accelerate development.
According to Tinubu, the ongoing interventions are already injecting life into local economies by opening up communities to increased commercial activities, reducing travel time and transportation costs, and making it easier for farmers, traders and business owners to move goods and services.
He noted that improved road infrastructure would also encourage private investment, create employment opportunities and enhance access to essential public services, including healthcare, education and markets.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering infrastructure projects that have a direct impact on the daily lives of Nigerians, stressing that balanced development remains central to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Tinubu commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the FCT Administration for prioritising infrastructure development in satellite communities, describing the projects as critical to achieving inclusive growth across the territory.
He said many communities that had long suffered from poor road networks are now witnessing significant improvements, enabling residents to carry out economic and social activities more efficiently.
The President also assured residents that the Federal Government would continue investing in strategic infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening economic resilience and promoting sustainable urban development.
Stakeholders have welcomed the ongoing road projects, noting that improved transportation networks are expected to ease traffic congestion, facilitate agricultural distribution and support the expansion of businesses in previously underserved areas.
Residents of several satellite towns have expressed optimism that the projects will enhance mobility, attract new investments and improve living conditions by providing easier access to schools, hospitals and other public facilities.
The FCT has witnessed an increase in infrastructure development under the current administration, with several road construction and rehabilitation projects either completed or at various stages of execution across the territory.
As work progresses on the projects, the Federal Government says it remains focused on ensuring timely completion while maintaining quality standards that will deliver long-term economic and social benefits for residents of the Federal Capital Territory.
