Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has revisited the site of the Great Nigeria Insurance building fire that occurred on December 24, 2025.
He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and those affected by the tragedy.
The governor confirmed that eight people have died, with 13 others rescued so far. He also announced the establishment of an information centre at the site to assist affected persons.
Declaring the area unsafe, Sanwo-Olu ordered the continued closure of nearby markets and said the damaged building would be demolished following thorough safety assessments.
Search operations by first responders are ongoing.
