Atiku’s son declares Tinubu unbeatable in 2027, praises merit-based appointments

The son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared that President Bola Tinubu cannot be defeated in the 2027 presidential election, citing the administration’s performance and inclusive leadership style.

Abba Atiku made the bold statement in Yola, Adamawa State, shortly after receiving his membership card from the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Gwadabawa Ward in Yola North Local Government Area.

The recent defector explained that his decision to join the ruling party was motivated by his desire to support what he described as the government’s comprehensive economic and human development reforms.

“President Tinubu’s performance has earned him the backing of many Nigerians,” Abba said. “He is fair in his leadership style and does not base appointments on ethnic or religious considerations but on merit.”

Abba praised Tinubu’s track record in infrastructure development and human capital investment as key factors that influenced his political realignment. He urged Nigerians across party lines to rally behind the President to ensure the sustainability of ongoing projects and policies.

The defection comes at a particularly significant time, as his father, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, is reportedly considering another presidential bid in 2027, this time under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform.

The move has highlighted divisions within the Atiku family’s political loyalties. While Abba has joined the APC, another son, Adamu Atiku, remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and currently serves as Commissioner for Works and Energy Development in Adamawa State under Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s administration.

Neither Abba nor Adamu currently belongs to the ADC, the party reportedly being considered by their father for his potential presidential run.

The development adds an intriguing dimension to Nigeria’s evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
