Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has congratulated President Bola Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers who were abducted in Oyo State, describing their safe and unconditional release as welcome news for the nation.
In a statement issued following the rescue operation, Adeleke commended the coordinated efforts of the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government and security agencies, saying the outcome had brought relief to the victims’ families and Nigerians who had closely followed the incident.
The governor described the rescue as a testament to the effectiveness of collaboration among security institutions and government authorities in responding to threats to public safety.
According to Adeleke, the return of the abducted pupils and teachers without conditions offers renewed hope that determined and coordinated security operations can deliver positive results in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes.
He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for providing federal support throughout the rescue mission and praised Governor Makinde for his leadership and commitment to ensuring the victims were safely recovered.
Adeleke also commended members of the armed forces, the Nigeria Police Force, intelligence agencies and other security personnel involved in the operation, acknowledging their professionalism and sacrifices in securing the victims’ release.
The Osun governor said the successful operation should serve as encouragement for security agencies to intensify efforts to tackle insecurity across the country, particularly attacks targeting schools and other vulnerable communities.
He noted that protecting children and ensuring uninterrupted access to education remain essential responsibilities of government at all levels, stressing that every child deserves to learn in a safe and secure environment.
Adeleke extended his sympathies to the rescued pupils, teachers and their families for the trauma they endured during their time in captivity, expressing hope that they would receive the medical attention, counselling and psychosocial support needed for their recovery.
He further urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies with credible information capable of preventing criminal activities, while calling for sustained cooperation among federal, state and local authorities to strengthen the country’s security architecture.
The rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers has been widely welcomed across the country, with public officials, civil society organisations and education stakeholders describing it as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping and improve the safety of schools.
