The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has denied claims that it endorsed the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, in connection with the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.
In a statement issued over the weekend, the forum distanced itself from reports suggesting it had taken a position in support of Gbajabiamila over the matter, describing the claims as false and unauthorised. The group said no individual or affiliate was mandated to issue such an endorsement on its behalf.
The AYCF urged the public to disregard any statement or publication attributing an endorsement of Gbajabiamila to the organisation, stressing that its official position can only be communicated through its recognised leadership.
According to the forum, it remains committed to promoting accountability, transparency and due process in public affairs, adding that it would not prejudge issues that may be the subject of official investigations or judicial proceedings.
The controversy centres on allegations relating to the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, which have generated public debate in recent weeks. However, no competent court has made any findings on the allegations, and the claims remain unproven.
The AYCF said it would refrain from taking sides until the relevant authorities conclude any investigations and establish the facts. It called on Nigerians to avoid spreading misinformation or attributing positions to organisations without verification.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Gbajabiamila nor the Presidency had issued a fresh response to the forum’s statement. The allegations linked to the purported council remain the subject of public discussion, and no official determination has been made regarding their validity.
The forum reiterated its support for the rule of law, urging all parties to allow due process to take its course and avoid actions capable of undermining ongoing efforts to establish the facts surrounding the controversy.
