Bala Mohammed reshuffles cabinet

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, dropping two commissioners from the State Executive Council, accepting the resignation of another, and nominating three new commissioners for confirmation by the State House of Assembly.

The development was announced in a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, who said the changes were part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across the state.

According to the statement, the governor relieved Ibrahim Mohammed (Commissioner for Housing and Environment) and Usman Shehu Usman (Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Investment) of their appointments.

Governor Mohammed also accepted the resignation of the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Garba Danturaki, who stepped down to pursue other personal engagements.

To fill the vacancies, the governor nominated Mahmud Baba Ma’aji, Bilkisu Adamu Suleiman, and Dr Bala Musa Lukshi as commissioner-designates. Their appointments are subject to screening and confirmation by the Bauchi State House of Assembly, in line with constitutional provisions.

The statement noted that the governor expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their contributions to the administration and wished them success in their future endeavours.

Mohammed said the cabinet changes were intended to inject fresh ideas into his administration as it continues implementing programmes aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and economic development in the state.

He urged the commissioner-designates, if confirmed, to bring professionalism, integrity and dedication to their new roles while working in line with the administration’s development agenda.

The reshuffle comes as the Bauchi State Government continues efforts to reposition key sectors and enhance the delivery of public services. Cabinet reshuffles are a routine feature of governance and are often undertaken to improve administrative efficiency or realign government priorities.

The names of the commissioner nominees have been forwarded to the Bauchi State House of Assembly for legislative consideration and confirmation before they can assume office.
