There was panic on Thursday evening in Koro town in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, after gunmen invaded the area and killed the traditional ruler, Oba Segun Aremu-Cole.

It is reported that the gunmen stormed the palace of the monarch around 7 pm, fired gunshots which hit the traditional ruler. The wife of the monarch and two others were also abducted by the assailants.

Meanwhile, the state Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who confirmed the attack on Thursday in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, condemned the killing of the monarch.

The governor condemned the development, which he said was reckless, shocking, and abominable. He charged the security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring them to book.”
