Veteran Nollywood actors Jide Kosoko, Yinka Quadri and filmmaker Abbey Lanre were among the prominent personalities who attended the funeral rites of late Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, in Ilaro, Ogun State.
The actors were seen at the burial ceremony on Monday, August 24, 2026, as colleagues, family members, friends and admirers gathered to pay their final respects to the veteran actor.
Reports from the funeral rites showed Kosoko and Quadri arriving in Ilaro, while Abbey Lanre was also present at the ceremony.
The gathering brought together several figures from the Yoruba film industry who had worked closely with Hassan during his more than four-decade career.
Ogogo was particularly associated with the Odunfa Caucus, a prominent Yoruba theatre group that played an important role in the development of the Yoruba home-video industry. The group was founded by actors including Yinka Quadri, Taiwo Hassan, Rasaq Ajao and Abbey Lanre.

The presence of the three veterans at the funeral was therefore significant, given their longstanding professional relationship with Hassan and their shared history in Yoruba theatre and cinema.
Hassan, who was born in Ilaro, Ogun State, on October 31, 1959, began his acting career in 1981. He later left his job with the water corporation in 1994 to pursue acting full-time. He became one of the most recognisable figures in Yoruba-language cinema, working as an actor, producer, director and screenwriter.
His death at the age of 66 has generated widespread tributes from colleagues and admirers across Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
The funeral rites in Ilaro have provided an opportunity for members of the film community to honour the late actor and celebrate his contribution to Yoruba cinema.
With the attendance of established figures such as Kosoko, Quadri and Lanre, the ceremony also underscored the close bonds formed within the Yoruba theatre community over several decades.
