Lagos deputy CP commits suicide

A Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Lagos State Police Command, DCP Gbolahan Oyedemi, has been found dead in his house in Ogbomosho, Oyo State.

The 50-year-old officer, who had gone home to celebrate the Easter holidays, was found d£ad on Tuesday, April 2. Sources privy to the incident informed newsmen on Tuesday morning that his body was found hanging in the house on Monday, suggesting he probably ended it all.

“He came with his aides and we heard that he discharged them to go and celebrate Easter with their respective families only to hear that he ended it all yesterday (Monday),” a former aide to late Governor Akala, who had served at the same time with DCP Oyedemi, narrated.

A police source at FCID who spoke with newsmen said some persons would be invited for questioning over the incident. Among them are those who first saw his corpse. “This is to ascertain where the deceased went to before his death, who was with him at the time he entered his room, the source said.
