NNPC revenue surges to N4.97 trillion in April, up 70% from March

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) recorded a sharp increase in revenue in April 2026, generating N4.97 trillion, representing a 79 per cent rise from the N2.77 trillion reported in March.

The figures were disclosed in the company’s latest monthly financial performance update, highlighting a significant improvement in earnings amid ongoing efforts to strengthen operations across Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

The surge in revenue comes after NNPC posted N2.774 trillion in revenue and a profit after tax of N276 billion in March 2026, according to its monthly report. The company attributed recent financial gains to sustained crude oil production, increased gas sales, and improvements in operational efficiency.

Industry analysts say the sharp increase may have been driven by stronger crude oil prices, higher production volumes, improved domestic sales, and enhanced performance across key segments of the company’s operations.

NNPC has continued to play a central role in Nigeria’s energy sector since its transition into a fully commercial entity under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). The company has repeatedly stated its commitment to increasing oil and gas production, expanding infrastructure, and improving financial transparency.

In its most recent annual financial disclosure, NNPC reported total revenue of N60.5 trillion and a profit after tax of N5.76 trillion for 2025, underscoring its growing contribution to government revenue and the broader economy.

The latest revenue performance is expected to boost confidence in the state-owned energy company’s ongoing reforms and investment plans, particularly as Nigeria seeks to increase crude oil output and strengthen foreign exchange earnings from the petroleum sector.

NNPC has yet to release detailed audited figures for April, and, as with previous monthly reports, the reported numbers remain provisional pending reconciliation with relevant stakeholders.
