Ondo community under siege

Residents of Idogun in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State have been thrown into fear following an attack by suspected kidnappers who reportedly destroyed property and abducted a nine-year-old boy, believed to be the son of a local pastor.

According to community sources, the attackers invaded the town and targeted several homes, causing damage to buildings before abducting the child. The incident has heightened concerns over the growing insecurity in parts of Ondo State, where cases of kidnapping and violent attacks have continued to trouble residents.

Witnesses said the gunmen struck the community unexpectedly, forcing many residents to flee for safety. The whereabouts of the abducted child remained unknown as of the time of filing this report.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed that efforts were underway to rescue the victim and apprehend those responsible for the attack. Security operatives have reportedly intensified search-and-rescue operations in and around the affected area.

Police authorities urged residents to remain calm and provide any useful information that could assist ongoing investigations. The command also reiterated its commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.

The latest incident adds to a series of kidnapping cases recorded in Ondo State in recent months, prompting renewed calls for stronger security measures in vulnerable communities. Security agencies have recently reported arrests and rescue operations targeting kidnapping syndicates operating within the state.

Community leaders and residents have appealed to the government and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure rural communities and ensure the safe return of the abducted child.

As of press time, no group had claimed responsibility for the attack, and authorities had not announced any arrests in connection with the incident
