Three Crowns deepens women’s empowerment drive in Imo

Three Crowns Milk, a dairy brand of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, has empowered women at the 2026 August Meeting in Owerri, Imo State, as part of efforts to promote women’s wellbeing, economic resilience and healthier living.

The event, held on Saturday, August 15, at Umuorii Field beside Umuorii Women Hall, St Michael Catholic Church, Umuorii, brought together women from 10 communities for activities centred on community development, networking, empowerment and social interaction.

A major highlight was an empowerment initiative through which 30 underserved women received equipment to help them start or strengthen their businesses.

The women also received practical knowledge in health, finance and agriculture, while the gathering featured dairy education, interactive activities, games and product sampling.

The participating communities included Umualum, Umuorii, Umuoba, Okwu, Owalla, Owaelu, Umunahu, Orji, Amakohia and Akwakuma.

The August Meeting is a major cultural gathering in South-East Nigeria, traditionally bringing women together for homecoming activities, community engagement and networking.

The event was attended by the First Lady of Imo State, Chioma Uzodimma, who was represented by Nduka Ijeoma, wife of the Managing Director of the Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority. Actress and influencer Ebelle Okaro was also among the guests.

Speaking at the event, Marketing Director of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, Maureen Ifada, said the company remained committed to creating platforms that celebrate and support mothers.

“At FrieslandCampina WAMCO, we believe that when women thrive, families and communities flourish,” Ifada said, stressing that women play an important role in building stronger families and communities.

She said the August Meeting provided an opportunity for the company to connect with women at the intersection of culture, community and wellness.

Also speaking, Marketing Manager of Three Crowns Milk, Chioma Otisi-Igwe, said supporting mothers should go beyond nutrition to include creating opportunities that enable them to improve their wellbeing and livelihoods.

“At Three Crowns Milk, we believe supporting mothers goes beyond providing good nutrition; it means creating opportunities that empower them to thrive,” she said.

Otisi-Igwe added that the initiative was designed to promote healthier living while equipping women with practical tools to strengthen their economic resilience and better care for themselves and their families.

The Owerri activation is part of Three Crowns Milk’s broader women-focused initiatives, with the company using culturally significant gatherings to deepen its engagement with mothers and promote wellness and healthier lifestyles.
