The family of a 57-year-old farmer, Abdulazeez, has been thrown into mourning after he was allegedly abducted and murdered by suspected kidnappers in Kwara State, with his daughter describing the devastating moment they received his body instead of the ransom demand they had feared.
Speakinghtthey endured following her father’s disappearance, saying the family had expected the kidnappers to contact them with a ransom demand.
Instead, they were confronted with the heartbreaking news of his death.
“We waited for a ransom call, but what we eventually received was my father’s corpse,” she said, expressing the family’s grief and disbelief.
According to Rofiat, her father, a 57-year-old farmer, was known as a peaceful and hardworking man who dedicated his life to providing for his family through farming. His sudden and violent death has left relatives devastated and struggling to come to terms with the loss.
She appealed to security agencies and the Kwara State Government to thoroughly investigate the incident, identify those responsible, and ensure they are brought to justice.
“My father did not deserve to die this way. We want justice for him, and we hope those behind this cruel act will be arrested and prosecuted,” she said.
The killing has further heightened concerns over the growing insecurity affecting rural communities, where farmers increasingly face threats from kidnappers and armed criminals. Residents say persistent attacks have forced many people to abandon their farms, raising fears over livelihoods and food production.
Community members also called on the government to strengthen security across vulnerable communities and improve intelligence gathering to prevent similar tragedies.
The family said they are now focused on giving Abdulazeez a dignified burial while hoping that authorities will conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his abduction and death.
The incident adds to a series of violent attacks reported across parts of the country, where kidnappings and killings have continued to pose serious security challenges despite ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb the menace.
