Mrs. Titilayo Akindayomi-Adewale, daughter of the founder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pa Josiah Akindayomi, has dismissed viral reports alleging that she criticised the church’s leadership or accused senior pastors of neglecting her father’s legacy.
In a statement shared on her official Facebook page, Akindayomi-Adewale described the claims as false and urged those circulating them to desist from spreading misinformation.
The controversy followed the circulation of reports on social media claiming that she had lamented that many senior RCCG pastors were unaware that her father founded the church and had called for greater recognition of his legacy.
However, she said the statement attributed to her did not originate from her “either implicitly or explicitly.”
“I want to clarify that the statement attributed to me is not from me, either implicitly or explicitly,” she stated, adding that her father’s greatest legacy was not physical structures or public monuments but the lives he transformed through his ministry.
According to Akindayomi-Adewale, her late father never placed importance on earthly recognition, insisting that “making Heaven” was of far greater value than having his image displayed on buildings.
She explained that Pa Akindayomi believed in investing in people rather than material possessions, noting that his enduring legacy lies in the individuals whose lives were impacted by his teachings.
Akindayomi-Adewale also reaffirmed her confidence in the leadership of the church under its General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, dismissing suggestions of any disagreement between her family and the church leadership.
She prayed for God’s continued guidance, wisdom and protection for Adeboye, his family and the leadership of the RCCG, while urging members and the public to disregard reports aimed at creating division within the church.
Pa Josiah Akindayomi founded the RCCG in 1952 before handing over leadership to Adeboye in 1981, a transition widely regarded as pivotal to the church’s expansion into one of the world’s largest Pentecostal denominations.
