Nigerian rapper and actor Falz has advised young people against getting married before the age of 30, arguing that many individuals in their twenties are still developing emotionally, mentally and financially.
Speaking during a recent interview, the award-winning entertainer said the twenties should be viewed as a period for self-discovery, personal growth and building a stable foundation, rather than making lifelong commitments such as marriage.
According to Falz, people in their twenties are often still discovering who they are, making it difficult to make informed decisions about marriage.
He said emotional maturity, financial stability and life experience are important factors that should be in place before taking such a significant step.
“The twenties are for discovering yourself,” Falz said, adding that many people are not yet emotionally, mentally or financially prepared for marriage during that stage of life. He suggested that individuals are generally better equipped to make lifelong decisions in their thirties after gaining more experience and a clearer understanding of themselves.
The rapper’s comments add to his long-standing openness about relationships and marriage. In previous interviews, Falz revealed that he had remained single for several years, explaining that he had not felt ready for a committed relationship and had concerns about balancing marriage with the demands of life as a public figure.
While acknowledging that people mature at different rates, Falz maintained that waiting until one’s thirties could provide greater emotional stability, financial security and clarity before entering into marriage.
