The Nigerian government has officially received $52.88 million in recovered Galactica assets linked to former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke from the United States.
At a signing ceremony in Abuja on Friday, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, confirmed the handover.
Fagbemi explained that $50 million of the recovered funds will be allocated to a rural electrification project through the World Bank, while the remaining $2 million will go to the International Institute of Justice to strengthen the judicial system and fight corruption.
