A woman suspected of impersonating a nurse was rescued by police after she was allegedly caught secretly filming newborn babies inside a private clinic in Anambra State, triggering fears of possible child trafficking and sparking an angry reaction from residents.
The incident occurred at a healthcare facility in the state, where the suspect was reportedly discovered recording videos of newborns and their mothers despite not being a member of the clinic’s medical staff.
According to eyewitness accounts, the woman’s actions aroused suspicion among hospital workers and relatives of patients, who questioned her presence in restricted areas of the facility. Preliminary inquiries reportedly revealed that she was not employed by the clinic and could not provide a satisfactory explanation for her activities.
The discovery quickly generated panic among parents and members of the community, many of whom feared that the recordings could be linked to child trafficking or other criminal activities. The situation escalated as an angry crowd gathered and attempted to attack the suspect.
