Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho made an impressive start to his Bursaspor career, scoring a goal and providing an assist as the Turkish side opened their 2026/27 campaign with a 2-0 away victory over Bodrum on Sunday.
Iheanacho, who joined Bursaspor during the summer, wasted little time making his mark as he contributed directly to both goals in his competitive debut for the club.
The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the first half before setting up Bursaspor’s second goal, helping his new side secure all three points in their opening fixture of the Turkish campaign. Reports put his goal in the 27th minute.
The performance represents an encouraging beginning for Iheanacho as he seeks to establish himself at Bursaspor following his departure from Celtic.
His move to Turkey came after a spell with the Scottish champions, where he helped Celtic win domestic honours before leaving the club at the end of the season.
The 29-year-old forward will now hope to build on his debut performance as Bursaspor continue their campaign, with his goals and experience expected to play an important role in the club’s ambitions this season.
For Nigeria, Iheanacho’s return to form will also be welcomed as the Super Eagles continue preparations for upcoming international engagements. His ability to contribute both goals and assists could provide another attacking option for the national team.
With a goal and an assist on his first competitive appearance, Iheanacho has made an early statement in Turkey and given Bursaspor supporters reason to be optimistic about his contribution to the season ahead.
