Lagos Assembly celebrates Tinubu’s achievements, rallies support for second-term presidency

Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have unanimously adopted and endorsed Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, urging state assemblies, political parties, and the National Assembly across the country to support his re-election.

The resolution was reached during plenary on Tuesday following a motion moved by the lawmaker representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II, Ladi Ajomale.

Presenting the motion, Ajomale highlighted key achievements of the Tinubu administration over the past three years, noting that ongoing reforms and policies require continuity.

He cited initiatives such as the student loan scheme-NELFUND, removal of fuel subsidy, and major infrastructure projects, including the Lagos/Calabar Coastal Road, as milestones that should be consolidated in a second term.

Supporting the motion, Deputy Leader of the House, Richard Kasumu, said Nigeria’s foreign reserves have improved under the current administration, adding that the country’s trade surplus reflects the impact of its economic policies. Ibrahim Owolabi (Lagos Mainland 1) hinted that foreign debt and inflation rate reduction,440 massive road projects and head on tackling of insecurity are part of the top achievements of the Tinubu led administration and that the continuity of his government will yield greater dividends. For Omolara Oyekan-Olumegbon the functionality of Naira cards in foreign lands is a feat worth celebrating for the Tinubu led administration and for which a second term is worth it.

Also contributing, Hon.Temitope Adedeji (Ifako Ijaye 1), commended the administration for strengthening local government autonomy, describing it as a significant step toward improving grassroots governance, while Gbolahan Yishawu praised education reforms such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the introduction of a consumer credit scheme.

In her remarks, Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda applauded improvements in Nigeria’s international image and ongoing development projects, noting progress in addressing challenges associated with passport processing.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, said the endorsement was made on behalf of their constituents and expressed confidence in Tinubu’s capacity to sustain national development, urging lawmakers to take the campaign to the grassroots as the House formally adopted the motion. He however raised a poser that, “Most of the people against him in ADC and PDP have all been in public offices before tell us what you have achieved while in there to convince us, for me I have not seen any. But in three years he has done so many, that we have listed here.”
