A fresh graduate of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has reportedly died less than 24 hours after celebrating his convocation, leaving family members, friends and colleagues in deep mourning.
The deceased, identified as Ishola Oluwatomisin Emmanuel, popularly known as Tomisin, was among thousands of students who participated in the university’s 18th convocation ceremony held in April. According to reports, he died on April 23, 2026, shortly after celebrating the milestone achievement with loved ones.
The tragic development gained public attention after the graduate’s sister shared an emotional account of his final moments on social media. In her tribute, she revealed that her brother had faced significant challenges before securing admission into the university and had recently completed his studies with plans to support his family and pursue a brighter future.
She recounted that the family had celebrated his graduation and taken photographs together, unaware that it would be their last time with him. According to her, Tomisin had asked her to prepare a meal before he left to play football, promising to return afterward. However, he never made it back home.
Reports indicate that Tomisin, who was also an aspiring footballer, slumped unexpectedly while preparing for football-related activities and could not be revived despite efforts to save him. The exact cause of his death has not been officially disclosed.
His passing has triggered an outpouring of grief across the university community and the local football scene in Ogbomoso. Friends, former classmates and teammates have described him as a hardworking, humble and ambitious young man whose life was cut short just as he was preparing to begin a new chapter after graduation.
