Nigerian Afro-house singer Niniola Apata, popularly known as Niniola, has released a new single titled “Raining (O Dun Mi)”, a deeply personal song dedicated to her late husband and former manager, Michael Chiedu Ndika.
The song, released on Friday, August 14, 2026, marks Niniola’s first musical release since Ndika’s death in May. The three-minute track reflects the singer’s grief, memories and emotional journey following the loss.
Announcing the release, Niniola described the song as a tribute to everyone who has experienced the pain of losing a loved one.
“For everyone who has ever lost someone, this is for you,” she said, adding that the song captures the tears, pain and memories that remain after bereavement.
The title, “O Dun Mi,” is a Yoruba expression associated with deep emotional pain and sorrow, reflecting the central theme of the song.
Ndika, who was also Niniola’s long-time manager and a music executive, died on May 19, 2026, at the age of 44. His death came as a major loss to the singer, who had shared both a personal and professional relationship with him.
Niniola had previously shared emotional memories of her late husband, including footage from a hospital visit during his illness.
“Raining (O Dun Mi)” therefore represents more than a new musical release for the singer, serving as a personal expression of grief and remembrance.
The track is now available on major digital streaming platforms, including Spotify, where it is listed as a 2026 single by Niniola.
