Olufunke Tayo-Makanjuola named acting Lagos Auditor-General

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has nominated Dr. Olufunke Omolara Tayo-Makanjuola as the Acting Auditor-General of the state, subject to confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly. The appointment took effect from July 28, 2026, following the issuance of an official circular by the Office of the Head of Service.

The Lagos State Government announced that Tayo-Makanjuola’s nomination was conveyed through Circular No. CIR/HOS/’26/052 dated July 28, 2026. She succeeds in an acting capacity and is expected to oversee the Office of the State Auditor-General pending legislative confirmation.

Before her nomination, Tayo-Makanjuola served as the Head of Directorate, Government Accounts, where she was recognised for her professionalism, integrity and commitment to strengthening public financial management in the state.

A seasoned finance professional, Tayo-Makanjuola holds a Doctor of Business Administration in International Business from Lagos State University, Ojo; a Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology; a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi; Higher National Diploma and National Diploma in Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro; as well as an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Accounting and Criminal Intelligence from the University of Lagos.

She is also a Fellow and member of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD), and the Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals (CFIP). She has received recognition for her contributions to public service, including the Distinguished Woman of Peace and Honour Award.

The management and staff of the Office of the State Auditor-General congratulated Tayo-Makanjuola on her nomination, expressing confidence in her ability to provide visionary leadership and further strengthen accountability, transparency and excellence in public sector auditing across Lagos State.

The office also commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for the appointment, stating that the nomination reflects the administration’s commitment to prudent financial management, transparency and good governance in the state’s public service.
