Osimhen dismisses transfer speculation after Chelle’s comments

Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has urged fans and the media to disregard speculation surrounding his club future after comments made by Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle sparked fresh transfer rumours.

The speculation began after Chelle suggested that Osimhen could be considering a move away from Turkish champions Galatasaray during the summer transfer window. Explaining the striker’s absence from Nigeria’s upcoming friendly matches, Chelle reportedly said the forward might be focused on resolving his club future before the new season.

However, Osimhen quickly moved to calm the rumours, stressing that the coach’s comments should not be interpreted as confirmation of an imminent transfer. In remarks shared by several football platforms, the 27 year old said he had spoken directly with Chelle and maintained that there was no issue between them. He also described the coach as someone he respects and asked supporters to ignore speculation surrounding the matter.

The striker’s response comes amid continued interest from several European clubs following another prolific campaign with Galatasaray. Osimhen has remained one of the most sought after forwards in world football since his successful spell with Napoli and his subsequent move to the Turkish giants.

Chelle’s remarks had fueled reports that a transfer decision was already underway, but Osimhen’s latest comments suggest he is not prepared to publicly discuss any potential move at this stage.

Osimhen, who is Nigeria’s vice-captain and one of the key figures in the national team, has enjoyed a strong spell with Galatasaray, helping the club compete for major domestic honours while continuing to play a central role for the Super Eagles.

With the summer transfer window approaching, speculation over the striker’s future is expected to continue, but neither Osimhen nor Galatasaray has announced any official decision regarding a possible departure.
