The Oyo State Judicial Commission of Enquiry investigating the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area has invited members of the public to submit memoranda containing relevant information, evidence and recommendations to assist its investigation.
The commission, established by the Oyo State Government following the abduction of pupils and teachers from the Esinele and Yawota communities in Oriire LGA, said the submissions would help determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and recommend measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
In a public notice signed by the commission’s Secretary, Mrs. Olamide Sandra Tella, individuals, groups and organisations with useful information were urged to provide written memoranda detailing facts, evidence or other materials related to the incident.
According to the notice, the commission is particularly seeking information on the circumstances leading to the abduction, developments following the incident, the security situation before, during and after the attack, and any acts or omissions that may have contributed to its occurrence. It is also requesting information on the response of relevant authorities, institutions, communities and individuals, as well as recommendations for strengthening security and preventing a recurrence.
Contributors have been asked to include their full names, contact details and any supporting documents where applicable.
The memoranda should be addressed to the Secretary, Judicial Commission of Enquiry into the Abduction of Students and Teachers in Esinele and Yawota Communities, Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State. Submissions may be delivered physically to the commission’s secretariat at the Conference Room, Office of the Head of Service, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, or sent electronically via the designated email address. The deadline for submissions is August 14, 2026.
Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on July 31, 2026, with a mandate to establish the facts surrounding the abduction, identify any institutional or operational lapses, and recommend measures to improve the protection of schools and communities across Oyo State. The governor said the commission’s work is intended to strengthen public confidence and enhance security rather than diminish the efforts of security agencies involved in rescuing the victims.
