President Bola Tinubu has appointed Hon. Ginika Florence Tor as a member of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), representing the South-East, as part of a fresh round of appointments into key federal government agencies and commissions.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. According to the Presidency, the appointments take immediate effect and are aimed at strengthening the leadership of strategic government institutions.
Tor, who previously served as a Federal Commissioner at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), joins the commission alongside Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Engr. Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi) as members.
The commission will be chaired by retired Major General Junaid Bindawa, while Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo), and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna) were appointed as commissioners. Former member of the House of Representatives, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, will serve as the commission’s secretary.
The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission is responsible for advising the Federal Government on wage policies, salary structures and income administration across the public service.
Tor’s appointment forms part of a broader exercise in which President Tinubu approved 26 appointments across 10 federal agencies and commissions. The appointments include former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency, Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, and Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc, among others.
