Two persons have died following a fatal road crash involving a truck and a commercial bus at Ogbere Junction along the Ogbere–J4 corridor in Ogun State.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday and caused significant disruption to traffic along the busy highway as emergency responders and security personnel moved to the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, the collision involved a commercial passenger bus and a truck. The impact of the crash left the bus severely damaged, trapping some of the occupants before rescue teams arrived.
Two victims were confirmed dead at the scene, while other passengers reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries. The injured were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Although the exact cause of the crash had yet to be officially established as of the time of filing this report, preliminary accounts suggested that excessive speed, dangerous overtaking, or loss of control by one of the drivers may have contributed to the collision. Authorities are expected to determine the actual cause after completing their investigation.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), alongside other emergency responders, evacuated the victims and cleared the wreckage from the road to restore the free flow of traffic.
The identities of the deceased had not been released, while efforts were ongoing to notify their families.
