Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) presidential candidate for Nigeria’s 2027 general election, has unveiled a five-point governance agenda, declaring that the country can overcome poverty, unemployment and insecurity within a generation through accountable leadership and social democratic reforms.
Adebayo outlined a governance strategy anchored on five pillars: establishing a clean and accountable government, increasing productivity, promoting transparent market rules, strengthening judicial independence, and achieving full employment through large-scale job creation.
He argued that Nigeria’s problems stem not from a scarcity of resources but from decades of poor governance and misplaced national priorities that have prevented the country’s human and natural wealth from translating into improved living standards. “Nigerians deserve a government that works for them and delivers results,” he said
A central pillar of Adebayo’s platform is a pledge to pursue full employment, with a target of creating 30 million jobs through investments in agriculture, manufacturing, digital innovation and enterprise development. “Once you have full employment, the rest of your problems can be dealt with,” he said.
He also pledged to promote productivity by ensuring transparent management of public revenue and separating public officials from government contracting.
Adebayo said a major focus of his administration would be implementing Chapter Two of Nigeria’s Constitution, particularly provisions relating to citizens’ welfare and security, and pledged to redirect greater public investment toward education, healthcare, housing and security.
His youth-focused agenda includes plans to return 20 million out-of-school children to classrooms, establish entrepreneurship incubation centres, modernise agriculture, promote sports development, and train five million young Nigerians in environmental sustainability and green technology. He stressed that education remains foundational to national progress, arguing that investment in healthcare, nutrition, early childhood learning and basic education is critical to building a productive society.
On security, Adebayo has said his administration would tackle insecurity from the community level through community-based security structures, while ending what he described as government sponsorship or enablement of criminality. Speaking at the Arewa Awareness Summit on Unity Against Insecurity in Kaduna State, he cited his 21 years of professional experience, including a decade in government, as preparation for addressing the country’s security challenges.
On energy, Adebayo has said Nigeria needs to move beyond its current electricity generation capacity to a target of between 50,000 and 75,000 megawatts to meet future demand, to be achieved through a mix of power sources including solar.
Adebayo, who is making his second presidential bid after contesting the 2023 election on the SDP platform, emerged as the party’s consensus presidential candidate at its national convention in Bauchi in May 2026. Addressing delegates after his emergence, he said his administration would pursue what he called a “people-centred government” and pledged to implement more than 500 programmes aimed at tackling unemployment, insecurity, poor healthcare, decaying infrastructure and economic hardship.
Beyond politics and law, Adebayo has business interests spanning agriculture, pharmaceuticals and media, and is the founder of KAFTAN TV, a broadcast network operating in Ondo, Lagos, Abuja and Washington, D.C., with reported reach across more than 20 countries.
With political activity gradually building toward the 2027 elections, Adebayo has positioned himself and the SDP as an alternative platform centred on employment, social welfare, institutional reform and inclusive economic growth. The party has said it will field candidates for all major elective offices in 2027, including the presidency, National Assembly, governorship and state assembly seats, and has formally submitted Adebayo’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its presidential candidate.
