The Olubadan Advisory Council has approved the burial arrangements for the late Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Olubunmi Isioye-Dada, bringing clarity to plans for the final rites of one of the revered traditional rulers in Oyo State.
The decision was reached during a meeting of the council, which is responsible for advising on matters relating to the traditional institution and the succession system in Ibadanland.
According to the council, the approved burial dates were agreed upon after consultations with the monarch’s family and other relevant stakeholders, in keeping with the customs and traditions of Ibadanland.
Oba Olubunmi Isioye-Dada, who held the prestigious title of Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, was widely regarded as a respected traditional leader whose contributions to the preservation of Yoruba culture and the development of his community earned him admiration across Oyo State.
The Olubadan Advisory Council noted that the burial ceremonies would be conducted in accordance with established traditional rites while also accommodating religious observances and public participation.
Family members, traditional rulers, government officials, community leaders, and well-wishers are expected to attend the funeral activities to pay their final respects to the late monarch.
The council urged residents and members of the public to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the burial period and to support efforts aimed at ensuring a dignified farewell for the late traditional ruler.
Oba Isioye-Dada’s passing marked the end of a significant chapter in the traditional leadership structure of Ibadanland. During his lifetime, he was recognised for his commitment to community development, conflict resolution, and the promotion of the customs and values of the Yoruba people.
