Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has appealed to Nigerians to support her colleague, Nkachukwu Anijekwu, who is battling cancer and requires urgent medical treatment.
Etiko made the appeal through her social media platforms after sharing an emotional video of the actress, identified as Cynthia Nkachukwu Anijekwu, in which she recounted her health struggles and pleaded for financial assistance.
In the video, Anijekwu said she was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 and underwent surgery and chemotherapy. However, she explained that the disease later returned and has since spread to her bones, resulting in escalating medical expenses.
According to her, she now requires additional treatment, including radiation therapy and another surgery, with monthly medical costs running into hundreds of thousands of naira.
Fighting back tears, the actress appealed to Nigerians for support, saying contributions of any amount could help her continue treatment and improve her chances of recovery.
Sharing the video, Etiko urged members of the public to come to her colleague’s aid.
“She made this video today. Please find it in your heart to offer her help. Nothing is too small. She is an upcoming Nollywood actress. Her condition is very critical now,” Etiko wrote.
The appeal has drawn an outpouring of sympathy from fans and fellow entertainers, many of whom have taken to social media to offer prayers and words of encouragement while calling on well-meaning Nigerians to support the actress’s treatment.
