The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested two Nigerians accused of operating sextortion schemes targeting American teenagers and handed them over to the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for extradition.
The suspects were allegedly involved in online sextortion schemes that were linked to the deaths of two American teenagers.
Following their handover by the EFCC, the suspects were extradited to the United States to face charges related to the alleged offences.
FBI Director Kash Patel issued a strong warning to individuals who target children through online crimes, saying the agency would pursue offenders regardless of where they operate.
“If you harm our children, there is NO PLACE we won’t hunt you down—and no cage we won’t put you in,” Patel said.
The case highlights the growing international cooperation between law enforcement agencies in tackling online crimes and protecting young people from sextortion and other forms of digital exploitation.
