The widow, children and members of the Christ Revival Victory Chapel International have commemorated the 13th anniversary of the death of the church’s founder and spiritual leader, Prophet Elijah Iretiola Ajanaku.
Ajanaku’s widow, Joy Ajanaku, marked the anniversary on Monday, August 17, 2026, with a tribute to her late husband, saying she and their children, together with the church, were doing well in the Christian faith.

“The Church of God, your children and I are doing very great in Christ. Rest on, Great Hero,” she wrote in a social media post accompanying a flyer for the 13th remembrance service.
The remembrance service was held at the church’s premises in the Ipaja-Ayobo area of Lagos, where Ajanaku founded and led the Christ Revival Victory Chapel International.
Ajanaku was confirmed dead in August 2013 after an illness. A statement issued by the church at the time said his death was confirmed by a team of doctors following several days of prayers and vigil as his health deteriorated. He was survived by his wife, Joy, and two children, Stella and Apotieri.
Contemporary reports, however, differed over the exact date of his death. The church’s official statement reported that he died on Thursday, August 22, 2013, while some earlier reports placed his death several days earlier.

Ajanaku was also widely known for his association with gospel singer Tope Alabi, who was once closely associated with the late cleric as a spiritual mentor. Their relationship later became strained before his death. Contemporary reports described him as Alabi’s estranged spiritual father.
The late prophet founded and shepherded the Christ Revival Victory Chapel International in the Ipaja-Ayobo area of Lagos and was also associated with the Ajanaku World Outreach, through which he carried out evangelistic activities.
The church has continued its activities years after his death and recently marked its 31st anniversary.
The 13th remembrance service provided an opportunity for Ajanaku’s family, church members and followers to honour his memory and reflect on his contribution to the ministry he founded.
