The family of late Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has debunked reports circulating online that his daughter, Shakirat “Kira” Taiwo, has recently given birth to a baby boy.
The clarification followed the circulation of a video and accompanying claims suggesting that Kira welcomed a child shortly after her father’s death and burial.
In a statement shared on social media, Haleemah “Lima” Taiwo, another daughter of the late actor, described the report as false and appealed to members of the public to disregard it.
She said the family had received several calls and messages from friends and relatives seeking clarification over the viral claim.
Lima urged the public to stop circulating unverified information about the family, particularly as they continue to mourn the death of their father.
Independent fact-checking also found that the viral material was old and had been recirculated with a misleading description. The report established that Kira had actually welcomed her first child, a boy, in February 2024, while her father was still alive.
At the time, Kira announced the birth on social media, expressing gratitude and revealing that she had welcomed a baby boy. Her father subsequently became a grandfather.
The old footage has resurfaced following Ogogo’s death, with captions suggesting that the birth occurred after his burial. The family has now asked the public not to share the claim.
Ogogo died on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, and was buried in Ilaro, Ogun State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
His death has generated widespread tributes from colleagues, friends and admirers across the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The family has appealed for privacy and understanding as it continues to mourn the veteran actor and attend to matters surrounding his bereavement.
The incident has also renewed concerns over the circulation of old photographs and videos as new content, particularly during periods of heightened public interest in the lives of celebrities and their families.
